Manitoba Centennial Foundation of the Future Fund
Established in 1969, this fund provided for children born in
Manitoba’s Centennial year (1970) on six specific dates. These
children would then meet in the year 2000 to propose a specific
project which would be unique to Manitoba and honour the Province’s
culture and arts.
The “Centennial Babies”, as they were affectionately known, initiated the
development of a bursary program to promote education in the arts in Manitoba
schools.
The Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation is pleased to report that the annual
Maitland B. Steinkopf Foundation of the Future Fund has been established
and the first award was presented in 2003 to Oak Park High School. Awards have been presented to
Riverton Collegiate Institute in 2004, Immanuel Christian School in 2005 and Rossburn Collegiate in 2006.
