The Sopranos of Winnipeg will feature some of North America’s most talented artists who all live right here in our Prairie town!

Public Announcement from the administration of the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation

The Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation (MCCC), a crown corporation, is responsible for the operation of the Manitoba Centennial Centre.

With respect to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak:

Effective immediately: Public access to the Centennial Centre will be restricted for a period of 30 days. This directive applies to the Centennial Centre proper which includes the Centennial Concert Hall, Planetarium, Science Gallery and the Manitoba Museum.

Employees of The Centennial Centre Corporation, The Manitoba Museum, The Association of Manitoba Museums, The Manitoba Opera and The Manitoba Technology Accelerator will continue to have access to the centre and will be encourage to explore alternative work arrangements for their staff.

The MCCC is committed to providing essential services to maintain the functional operation of the facility for as long as it is safe for our employees to do so.

All performances in the Centennial Concert Hall or attendance to The Manitoba Museum have been suspended until April 15, 2020. An assessment of our ability to re-open the centre will be made two weeks prior to the April 15th deadline at which time the possibility of extending the closure could be made.

Monthly parkers using the MCCC Parking Garage will continue to have access to the garage. Those needing access to City Hall from the Centennial Centre will be required to use the South / West exit into the central courtyard to proceed to City Hall. The Centennial Centre concourse doors leading to the underground tunnel connecting City Hall to the Centennial Centre will be closed effective Monday March 23rd.

March 12, 2020 update

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves, the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation continues to closely monitor developments locally and globally.  We are following official guidance from the Canadian Government and Manitoba Government.

We want to re-assure everyone that the safety of our audiences, artists, employees is our priority.  Currently, our performance halls, offices, parking garage and other public spaces remain open. Should the need to postpone or cancel shows or events arise, we will issue a notice on our website and inform ticket buyers. Any decision to postpone or cancel shows or events will be made based on verified information and directives issued by the appropriate public health authorities.

With respect to immediate operational modifications to minimize the potential spread of this virus, we are or will be increasing our efforts in the following areas:

  • Expanding and increasing the frequency of cleaning/sanitizing public areas within the Centennial Concert Hall
  • Increasing the availability and accessibility of hand sanitizer
  • Expanding signage to inform the public of personal measures that they can be taken to minimize the spread of this virus
  • Updating our Corporate and Centennial Concert Hall websites with the latest official positions regarding the virus and how to reduce the chance of contracting it.
  • Working closely with government for guidance related to general access to public spaces

Regarding performances at Centennial Concert Hall

  • Our current agreements with artists and promoters address cancellations but we recognize the Covid-19 virus may present unique circumstances to consider.
  • With respect to individual ticket purchases from; all current policies applicable to the purchase of a ticket remain in effect. In the case of rescheduled events, original tickets will be honoured and refunds applicable to those who cannot make the new date. Events that are cancelled with no rescheduled date; patrons will receive notice regarding refunds by email.
  • The Manitoba Opera, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra have their own ticketing systems. They may have differing policies related to cancellations and rescheduled events. We encourage you to visit their website and those of the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Artspace and Manitoba Museum for a complete perspective of the Centennial Centre.
